John E. Wallace, Jr. is a justice of the New Jersey Supreme Court. He was appointed to the court by Jim McGreevey, a Democratic governor, and took office on May 20, 2003.[1] His current term expires on May 20, 2010.[2]
Biography
Justice Wallace was born in Pitman, New Jersey in 1942. In 1964, he earned a B.A. degree from the University of Delaware and in 1967, he earned a J.D. degree from Harvard Law School. He then joined the Army, where he served until 1970. He is currently married and has five children.[1]
Legal career
Prior to becoming a judge, Wallace worked as an attorney for the Trustees of the Penn Central Transportation Company and as an associate of the law firm Montgomery, McCracken, Walker & Rhodes. He then became Municipal Judge for the Town of Washington and, at the same time, worked as a partner of the law firm Atkinson, Myers, Archie & Wallace. He was appointed to the New Jersey Superior Court for Gloucester County in 1984. In 1992, he joined the Appellate Division of this court and in 2003 he joined the Supreme Court.[1]
