Joseph Spero is a federal magistrate judge for the United States District Court for the Northern District of California. He was appointed to this position on March 13, 1999.[1]
Education
Judge Spero received his B.A. degree from Grinnell College in 1977 and his J.D. degree from Columbia University in 1981.[1]
Career
Judge Spero began his career in 1981 as a law clerk on the U.S. 9th Circuit Court of Appeals. He joined the law firm of Skaden, Arps, et al. in 1982 and the firm of Coblentz, Patch, Duffy & Bass, LLP in 1984. He became a partner of the latter in 1989. He worked in this position and as a Judge Pro Tem for the San Francisco Superior Court until 1999.[1]
