Ellensburg, Washington: Judge Thomas A. Haven retires on January 7, 2011 after serving for 20 years on the Lower Kittitas County District Court in Washington. The 59 year old judge was first elected to this court in 1990. Haven spoke well of his judicial career, explaining, "There's a great satisfaction in having an opportunity to, hopefully, make a difference in the life of a defendant, and in the community." Prior to becoming a judge, he served as a deputy prosecutor for 12 years. Jim Hurson, the current District Court commissioner for Lower Kittitas County, was elected to replace Judge Haven on the court.[1]
