CARSON CITY, Nevada: District Judge Jim Wilson has rejected NoBearHunt.org's lawsuit to block the state's first black bear hunt. Judge Wilson ruled that the group failed to show why the hunt should not take place.[1]

The opposition to the ruling says the Nevada Wildlife Commission did not give proper notice before approving it in December and did not look into the economic impacts of the hunt.[1]

The season began August 20 and is scheduled to run through December 31.[1]
