Check user is a tool only available to a small number of users. The tool permits those users to examine IP information of contributors.
A user with CheckUser access gets an extra "CheckUser" option under Special:SpecialPages.
CheckUser requests are logged privately. The full log of all Check User searches is visible only to other CheckUsers at Special:CheckUser. The log lists who made a request, when, what the request was, and a provided comment. They do not list the results of the check, nor do they store any user IP data.
