Kathleen E. O'Leary is the presiding judge on the Fourth District, Division Three of the California Courts of Appeal. She was appointed by Governor Davis and, after her confirmation, took the oath of office on January 21, 2000. She was retained by voters on November 5, 2002 and January 8, 2007.[1] Her current term expires on January 7, 2019.[2] O'Leary became presiding judge following an appointment by Governor Jerry Brown. [3]
Education
Kathleen O'Leary graduated from Loyola Marymount University. She went on to Southwestern University School of Law and received her law degree (J.D.) in 1975. [4][5]
Legal career
Kathleen O'Leary began her career as a private practice attorney in 1975. Her judicial career began in 1981 when she was appointed to the West Orange County Municipal Court. She served on this court until 1986, when she was elevated to the Orange County Superior Court. In 2000, she became an appellate court justice.[4][5]
