Kathryn Nelson is a county judge of the St. Lucie County Court of Florida. Her current term expires in 2014. [1]
Misdemeanor charges
In October 2011, Nelson was charged with two misdemeanors; a DUI with property damage and resisting arrest without violence. She was released on bail and had no comment about the incident. [1]
Ensuing case
In late October, Judge Nelson entered a not guilty plea and requested a jury trial. [2] The case was expected to be heard in January 2012, but before it could go to trial attorneys struck a plea deal. Ultimately, the judge pleaded no contest and was sentenced to one year of probation, DUI school, fifty hours of community service and a $500 fine. [3] [4]
