Kerry FitzGerald is a judge on the Texas Fifth District Court of Appeals. He was appointed to this position on October 19, 1999[1] and his current term ends on December 31, 2014.[2]

Biography

Justice Fitzgerald grew up in Maryland and attended Southern Methodist University, where he earned his bachelor's degree in economics in 1963. He later earned his law degree from the University of Texas in 1966.[1]

Legal Career

After graduating from law school Justice Fitzgerald worked for three years at the Dallas County District Attorney's office. He then went into private practice for several years. In 1994 Justice Fitzgerald took the bench as an Associate Municipal Judge for Dallas County, a position he held until October 19, 1999 when he was appointed to the Court of Appeals by then Governor George W. Bush. He was sworn in on October 22nd.[1]

Personal Life

Justice Fitzgerald is married to Kathy Fitzgerald. They have five children: Klaire, Kyran, Kristina, Kerry, and Kathy.[1]
