Lawrence E. Long is the presiding judge on the Second Judicial Circuit of South Dakota. He was appointed by Governor Mike Rounds in 2009. Long was one of 11 candidates recommended to the governor by the South Dakota Judicial Qualifications Commission.[1][2]

He is running for re-election in 2014.[3]

Education

Long received his J.D. degree from the University of South Dakota School of Law in 1972.[2]

Career

Long was elected attorney general of South Dakota in 2002, and re-elected in 2006. Prior to that, he served as chief deputy attorney general from 1991 to 2002.[1]
