Lee Hyman Rosenthal is an Article III federal judge for the United States District Court for the Southern District of Texas. She joined the court in 1992 after being nominated by President George H.W. Bush.
Early life and education
Born in Richmond, Indiana, Rosenthal graduated from the University of Chicago with her Bachelor's Degree in 1974 and the University of Chicago Law School with her Juris Doctor, [[Juris Doctor|J.D.] degree in 1977.[1]
Legal career
Rosenthal was a law clerk for Chief Appeals Judge John Brown in the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals from 1977 to 1978. Rosenthal was a private practice attorney in Texas from 1978 to 1992.[1]
Federal judicial career
On the recommendation of Texas U.S. Senator Phil Gramm, Rosenthal was nominated to the United States District Court for the Southern District of Texas by George H.W. Bush on March 20, 1992 to a new seat created by 104 Stat. 5089, which was approved by Congress. Rosenthal was confirmed by the U.S. Senate on May 12, 1992 on a Senate vote and received commission on May 13, 1992.[2]
