Leslie E. Stein is a judge on the New York Supreme Court, Appellate Division, Third Department. She was appointed to this position and began service on February 11, 2008.[1]

Biography

Judge Stein graduated from Macalester College in 1978 and Albany Law School in 1981.[1]

Legal career

Judge Stein began her legal career in 1981 as a confidential law clerk on the Schenectady County Family Court. In 1983, she became a private practice lawyer and worked on matrimonial family law cases until 1997, when she was elected Albany City Court Judge. She then served as an Acting Family Court Judge in 2001. That same year, she was elected to the Supreme Court of the State of New York, 3rd Judicial District. On this court, she has served as the Administrative Judge of the Renssellaer County Integrated Domestic Violence Part (2006-2008), and the chair of the 3rd Judicial District Gender Fairness Committee (2001-2005). She now judges in the Appellate Division.[1]
