Lewis Powell

Lewis Franklin Powell, Jr. {b September 19, 1907 d. August 25, 1998} was a justice on the Supreme Court of the United States. He was nominated by Richard Nixon.[1]
Federal Judicial Service
Nominated by Richard M. Nixon on October 22, 1971, to a seat vacated by Hugo L. Black; Confirmed by the Senate on December 6, 1971, and received commission on December 9, 1971. Assumed senior status on June 26, 1987. Service terminated on August 25, 1998, due to death.
