Liam O'Grady is an Article III federal judge for the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia. He joined the Court in 2007 after being nominated by President George W. Bush.
Early life and education
Born in Newark, New Jersey, O'Grady graduated from Franklin & Marshall College with his Bachelor's Degree in 1973 and received a Juris Doctor degree from George Mason University School of Law in 1977.[1]
Professional career
O'Grady was a private practice attorney in the Commonwealth of Virginia from 1979 to 1982 and again from 1992 to 2003. O'Grady served as the Assistant Commonwealth's Attorney in the Commonwealth of Virginia from 1982 to 1986 before becoming an Assistant U.S. Attorney with the United States Department of Justice's U.S. Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of Virginia until 1992.[1]

Eastern District of Virginia
On the recommendation of U.S. Senator John Warner O'Grady was nominated to serve as District Court Judge of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia by President George W. Bush on January 9, 2007 to a seat vacated by Claude Hilton. O'Grady was confirmed by the U.S. Senate on July 9, 2007 on a Senate vote and received commission on July 11, 2007.[2]
