Lloyd George is an Article III federal judge for the United States District Court for the District of Nevada. He joined the court in 1984 after being nominated by President Ronald Reagan.
Early Life and Education
A native of Idaho, George graduated from Brigham Young University with his Bachelor's Degreein 1955 and later graduated from the University of California-Berkeley Boalt Hall School of Law with his Juris Doctorate Degree in 1961. George also served in the US Air Force from 1955 to 1958.
Professional career
George started his legal career as a private practice attorney licensed in the State of Nevada from 1961 to 1974 and also served as a Justice of the peace for Clark County from 1962 to 1969.
Judicial career
Bankruptcy Judge
George started his Federal judicial career as Federal Bankruptcy Judge. George was appointed to the United States District Court for the District of Nevada in 1974 to a fourteen year term and served as a bankruptcy judge until 1984 when George was elevated as an Artcle III Judge. George also served as a member of the Ninth Circuit U.S. Bankruptcy Appellate Reviews Panel from 1980 to 1984.
District of Nevada
George was nominated by President Ronald Reagan on April 18, 1984 to a seat vacated by Roger Foley as Foley assumed senior status. George was confirmed by the U.S. Senate on April 30, 1984 on a senate vote and received commission on May 3, 1984.[1] George served as chief judge of the court from 1992 to 1997 before later assuming senior status on December 1, 1997. George was succeeded in this position by Johnnie Rawlinson.
