Marc Thomas Treadwell is a judge for the United States District Court for the Middle District of Georgia. Treadwell joined the court in 2010 after an appointment by Barack Obama. Prior to his appointment, he was a private practice attorney and adjunct professor at Walter F. George School of Law at Mercer University.[1]
Early life and education
Born in Fort Campbell, KY in 1955, Treadwell earned his B.A. from Valdosta State University in 1978 and received his J.D. from Mercer University in 1981. [2]
Professional career
Treadwell has been in private practice with the law firms Chambless Higdon and Carson, LLP and Kilpatrick and Cody, representing clients in civil litigation. Since 2000 he has been a shareholder and partner with the firm Adams, Jordan and Treadwell, P.C., in Macon, Georgia. His specialty is in personal injury and wrongful death cases. Treadwell is also an Adjunct Professor of Law at the Walter F. George School of Law at Mercer University. [2][3]
Judicial career
Middle District of Georgia
On February 4, 2010 President Barack Obama nominated Treadwell to a seat on the United States District Court for the Middle District of Georgia. [2][4] The seat he is nominated for opened when Hugh Lawson assumed senior status.[1] Treadwell said of the nomination: "I am honored and humbled the president has nominated me to follow Judge Lawson. If confirmed by the Senate, I look forward to following in Judge Lawson’s footsteps." [5] Treadwell received a rating of "Unanimously Well Qualified" from the American Bar Association. [6]

On June 21, 2010, the Senate voted for confirmation, 89-0.[7]
