Marcia Crone is an Article III federal judge for the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Texas.
Early life and education
Born in Dallas, Texas, Crone graduated from the University of Texas at Austin, Texas with her Bachelor's degree in 1973 and later from the University of Houston, Texas Law Center with her Juris Doctor degree in 1978. [1]
Professional career
Crone was a private practice attorney in the State of Texas from 1978 to 1992.[1]
Judicial career
Eastern District of Texas
Crone was appointed to serve as a Federal Magistrate Judge in 1992 for the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Texas. Crone was re-appointed to a consecutive term in 2000.[1]
On the recommendation of Texas U.S. Senators Kay Bailey-Hutchinson and Phil Gramm, Crone was nominated to the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Texas by President George W. Bush on May 1, 2003 to a new seat created by 116 Stat. 1758, which was approved by Congress. Crone was confirmed by the U.S. Senate on September 30, 2003 on a Senate vote and received commission on October 3, 2003.[2]
