Marco A. Hernandez is a judge on the United States District Court for the District of Oregon. He was appointed by President Barack Obama and confirmed by the Senate on February 7, 2011. Prior to appointment, he was a judge on the Washington County Circuit Court in Oregon. [1]
Early life and education
Hernandez received his B.A. from Western Oregon State University in 1983 and his J.D. from the University of Washington School of Law in 1986. [2]
Professional career
After graduating from law school, Hernandez worked with Oregon Legal Services on behalf of farm workers. In 1989, he became a Deputy District Attorney in Washington County, OR. In 1994, he became a judge on the Washington County Circuit Court. [2]
Judicial career

On July 14, 2010, President Obama nominated Hernandez to the United States District Court for the District of Oregon.[3][2] Hernandez was nominated to fill the seat vacated by Garr King. [4] The nomination must be approved by the Senate.
Hernandez received a unanimous rating of "Qualified" from the American Bar Association. He had a hearing before the Senate Judiciary Committee on November 17, 2010 and you can find his Hearing Transcript here. [5] He was moved out of committee and to the full Senate on a voice vote on December 8, 2010. [6]
Hernandez's nomination was returned to the President at the end of the 111th congress. President Obama resubmitted the nomination on January 5, 2011. Hernandez was confirmed by the Senate by a vote of 95-0 on February 7, 2011.[7]
