Marion Bennett
Education
Bennett earned his AB from Southwest Missouri State University in 1935. He went on to receive his JD from the Washington University School of Law in 1938.[2]
Professional career
Bennett worked in private practice in Springfield, Missouri, from 1938 to 1940. From 1941 to 1942 he was an Administrative Assistant for U.S. Representatives Philip Alan Bennett. He was then a U.S Representative from Missouri from 1943 to 1949. He became Commissioner of the U.S. Court of Claims in 1949. He then became Chief Trial Commissioner in 1964 and served in that position until 1972. During the years of 1950 to 1974 he was also a U.S. Air Force Reserve Colonel. [2]
Federal judicial service
Bennett served as a judge on the U.S. Court of Claims from 1972 to 1982. He was nominated by Richard Nixon, and received his commission on June 28, 1972. He was then reassigned to the newly created United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit on October 1, 1982. He later assumed senior status on March 1, 1986. His service was terminated on September 6, 2000 due to his death. [2]
