Mark Davis is an Article III federal judge for the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia.

Early life and education

Born in Portsmouth, Virginia, Davis graduated from the University of Virginia with his bachelor's degree in 1984 and later graduated from the Washington & Lee University School of Law with his Juris Doctor degree in 1988.[1]

Professional career

Davis began his legal career as a law clerk for the Honorable John MacKenzie in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia from 1988 to 1989. Davis also served as a private practice attorney in Virginia from 1989 to 2003 before being appointed to Circuit Court Judge in the Third Judicial Circuit of Virginia from 2003 to 2008.[1]

Judicial career

Eastern District of Virginia

On the recommendation of U.S. Senator John Warner, Davis was nominated to the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia by President George W. Bush on November 15, 2007, to a seat vacated by T.S. Ellis. Davis was confirmed by the U.S. Senate on June 10, 2008, and received commission on June 23, 2008.[2]
