Mark R. Denton is a civil judge for the Eighth Judicial District Court of Nevada.

Denton is also one of seven members serving on the Nevada Commission on Judicial Discipline, an organization that charged in hearing complaints and administering discipline in the Nevada Judiciary.

Background

Upon graduation from law school, Denton went to Las Vegas and successfully sat for the Nevada bar examination. He joined his father, Ralph, who is a native Nevadan and practicing attorney. He practiced law at Denton & Denton, a general practice firm, emphasizing business, commercial, corporate, real estate, probate, banking, personal injury law and litigation. His firm also handled criminal matters in state and federal court. He is presently a Master and is a past president of the Nevada American Inns of Court.

Prior to his appointment to the District Court bench on August 19, 1998, Commissioner Denton had extensive judicial experience. He served as a municipal court judge in Boulder City for seven years. He was an arbitrator under the Court Annexed Arbitration Program of the Eighth Judicial District Court since its inception in 1992. He was an alternate Juvenile Court Referee from 1980 and a Nevada Supreme Court settlement judge. Judicial Discipline Commission

Commissioner Denton was appointed to the Commission by the Nevada Supreme Court in December, 2000 and then reappointed to a second term. His second term expires on January 5, 2009. [1]

Personal

Commissioner Mark R. Denton was born in Elko, Nevada and raised in Boulder City, Nevada and graduated from Boulder City High School in 1969. In 1973, he graduated with distinction from the University of Nevada in Reno. He completed ROTC and received a commission in the U.S. Army as a reserve officer. While in college, Commissioner Denton spent his junior year in Paris, France through an affiliate of UNR at the Universite' de Paris. Commissioner Denton received his law degree from Georgetown University Law Center in Washington DC in 1976. [1]
