Mark Lubbers

Mark Lubbers is one of seven members of the Indiana Judicial Nominating Commission charged in selecting supreme court justices, filling other judicial vacancies, and nominating supreme court justices, and adminstering discipline in the Indiana Judicial System.

Background
Mark Lubbers has been well connected in Indiana Politics. Lubbers was a press secretary for the late Governor Robert D. Orr. during his tenure from 1981 to 1989.
Also Lubbers has worked for the Hudson Institute and was a former campaign manager for Indiana Senator Dick Lugar in his 1996 campaign[1].
Lubbers is a well connected political consultant to Republicans in the State of Indiana including Governor Mitch Daniels.
His wife Teresa Lubbers is currently a State Senator in Senate District 30 in the Metro Indianapolis region.
Political Controversy
In 2006 Mark Lubbers entered in a contract as a senior adviser to Indiana Governor Mitch Daniels on the feiasblity of the Indiana Toll Roads. Lubbers came under fire in 2006 as the Indiana Democratic Party and Governor Mitch Daniels office were in a standoff over a open records request the party requested that dragged on during the first half of 2006 over how much money Lubbers has recieved as a senior adviser to Indiana Governor Mitch Daniels[2].
Also, Lubbers has came under fire for also his involvement in a contract with Strand Analytical Laboratories as the biotech firm won a big contract with the Indiana State Police and the Indiana Department of Transportation for DNA Testing[3].
In the past two years Mark Lubbers has came under serious fire for taking a contract of being paid $126,000 a year as a contract consultant as Governor Mitch Daniels being a senior adviser on taxpayer expense despite Indiana passed new, tougher ethics rules after the 2006 election.
Judicial Nominating Commission
Lubbers was appointed by Indiana Governor Mitch Daniels to serve on the Indiana Judicial Nominating Commission to serve a term effective January 1, 2007 and expiring December 31, 2009.
