Martin Ashman

Martin C. Ashman is a federal magistrate judge for the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois. He has served in this position since January 31, 1995. He was reappointed in 2003 to a term that expires in 2011.[1]

Education

Judge Ashman earned his J.D. degree from DePaul Law School in 1953.[1]

Career

Judge Ashman began his career in 1954 as a partner of the law firm Ashman & Jaffe. He left this firm in 1970, but continued to work as a lawyer (in real estate, corporate, general litigation and municipal law) until 1987. He was then appointed a Circuit Judge for Cook County. He also worked as a general trial judge in the Domestic Relations Division and, later, the Law Division before he was appointed magistrate judge in 1995.[1]
