Mary Gerdes is a lay member of the Nebraska Judicial Qualifications Commission which is charged in selecting Supreme Court Justices and other judicial vacancies in the State of Nebraska.

Background
Gerdes has a lot of strong ties to the banking and financial industry in the State of Nebraska. Gerdes is the President Community Bank of Lincoln. She has over 33 years of banking experience. From 2002 to 2007 Gerdes was the North Platte Regional President of Wells Fargo Bank, Nebraska NA. Gerdes took a job as a teller in 1974 at First Commerce Bancorp, North Platte. She went on to hold numerous positions at the bank-loan clerk, loan administration manager, loan analyst, loan officer and senior vice president. She worked her way up to a presidency and became the first female to hold the position in the First Commerce Bancorp Western Nebraska National Bank organization, which had banks in Alliance, Bridgeport and Valentine. In August of 2000, Gerdes led the First Commerce-Western Nebraska Banks through a merger with Wells Fargo Nebraska N.A.
Judicial Qualifications Commission
On March 25, 2000, Gerdes was appointed by Governor Mike Johanns to serve on the Nebraska Judicial Qualifications Commission as one of three lay people to serve on the Commission. Gerdes was retained in 2001 and 2005 with her term set to expire on March 31, 2009.
Other Professional Memberships
Gerdes is the First Vice President of the Nebraska Diplomats Board of Directors, the Nebraska Rural Development Commissioner, and a member of the Lincoln Independent Business Association, along with being a volunteer in the North Platte School District.
