Mary C. Noble is the Deputy Chief Justice of the Kentucky Supreme Court. She was elected to the court in November 2006 to fill a vacancy, and was re-elected to an eight-year term in 2008 that expires in 2016.[1],[2] Noble represents the 5th Supreme Court District, which includes Anderson, Bourbon, Boyle, Clark, Fayette, Franklin, Jessamine, Madison, Mercer, Scott and Woodford counties.[3]
On June 8, 2011, Noble became the first woman in the history of the Kentucky Supreme Court to preside over a hearing.[3] Noble said, "Most women today probably have more freedom to choose than they've ever had. But we still have very limited opportunity in leadership positions in the government and in business. So, when something like this happens, it's a milestone."[4]
Education
Noble received her B.A. and M.A. from Austin Peay State University, in 1971 and 1975, respectively. Her J.D. was earned in 1981 from the University of Kentucky College of Law.[5]
