Mary Seminara-Schostok is a justice on the Illinois Second District Appellate Court. She was appointed to this position in August of 2008[1] to replace retired Judge Barbara Gilleran Johnson. Her term is from August 18, 2008 to December 6, 2010.[2]
Legal career
Judge Seminara-Schostok began her legal career as an assistant public defender in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania. She then ran a private law practice in Pittsburgh before moving to Illinois. She began working there as an Assistant State's Attorney in Lake County. In May of 1998, she was appointed to the bench as an Associate Judge in the 19th Judicial Circuit Court. She was elevated to Circuit Judge in 2001. On this court, she supervised the Juvenile Division, the Misdemeanor and Traffic Divisions, and the Law Division. She became an Appellate Judge in 2008.[1]
