Marywave Van Deren is a judge on the Washington Court of Appeals, Division II. She was appointed to this position by Gov. Locke in April of 2004[1] and was elected the following November[2]. Her term ends in 2016.
Education
Van Deren received a B.A. degree in Sociology and a Master's of Librarianship from the University of Washington. After working as a librarian for 7 years, she returned to the U.W., where she earned her J.D. degree in 1982. [1]
Legal career
Judge Van Deren began her career as an attorney. She was a partner of the firm Gordon, Thomas and Honeywell and then worked for Morton & McGoldrick for 4 years before she became a judge. She judged on the Pierce County Superior Court for 7 1/2 years before she was appointed to the Court of Appeals in 2004.[1]
