Matthew B. Durrant is an associate justice of the Utah Supreme Court. He was appointed to this position in January 2000 by Republican Governor Michael O. Leavitt. His current term expires in 2014[1].

Legal education

Justice Durrant graduated from Harvard Law School in 1984.

Legal experience

Justice Durrant has taught at Brigham Young University's J. Reuben Clark Law School, clerked for Judge Monroe G. McKay of the United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit, and worked in private practice in Salt Lake City. Prior to his Supreme Court appointment, Durrant was a trial judge for the Third Judicial District.

Awards and associations

Justice Durrant has served as the court's Associate Chief Justice, was a founding chairman of the court's Professionalism Committee, and was chairman of the Judicial Council's Technology Committee. He has also been the court's representative on the Utah Judicial Council.
