Maureen Coggins was a 2013 candidate for the Montgomery County Court of Common Pleas in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania. She was not elected to the bench.[1]

2013

Coggins ran for election to the Montgomery County Court of Common Pleas.

Primary: She received 35.1% of the vote in the Republican primary on May 21, 2013. She also cross-filed as a Democrat, but lost that primary with 10.8% of the vote. 
General: She was defeated in the general election on November 5, 2013 after receiving 24.6% of the vote. Gail Weilheimer, Steven C. Tolliver and Sharon Giamporcaro were also on the ballot, competing for two open seats.[2][3][4][1]

2011

Coggins ran for an open seat on the Montgomery County Court of Common Pleas. She received 15% in the Democratic primary and 40.4% of the vote in the Republican primary. She was defeated in the general election on November 8, receiving only 24% of the vote.[5][6]

Education

Coggins earned her undergraduate degree from Franklin & Marshall College in 1989. She earned her J.D. from Widener University School of Law in 1992.[7]

Career

Following her admission to the bar Coggins worked for the Montgomery County District Attorney's Office from 1993 until 2001. She then went into private practice at the firm Black & Gerngross before becoming an assistant public defender in 2002. Coggins has also served as the chief public defender of Lehigh County from 2004 until 2006 and as the deputy solicitor for Montgomery County from 2007 until 2008. She opened a private practice in 2002 which she still maintains.[7]
