Melissa Byers-Emmerling is the presiding judge for the East Liverpool Municipal Court in Columbiana County, Ohio. She has served on the court since 1990 and was the first woman elected to the bench in Columbiana County. [1][2]

Byers-Emmerling ran unsuccessfully for the Columbiana County Court of Common Pleas. She was defeated by Scott Washam in the general election. [4]
Education
Byers-Emmerling earned her bachelor's degree from the Miami University of Ohio and her J.D. from the University of Akron Law School.[3]
Career
After receiving her law degree, Byers-Emmerling worked in private practice for two years. In 1984, she became an assistant prosecutor. In 1990, she joined the East Liverpool Municipal Court.[1]
