Melody J. Stewart is a judge on the Ohio Eighth District Court of Appeals. She was elected to this position on November 7, 2006 and re-elected in 2010. Her current term expires in 2017.[1][2]
Education
Justice Stewart received a Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Cincinnati's College-Conservatory of Music. She then received her J.D. degree from Cleveland State University's Cleveland-Marshall College of Law and her Ph.D. from Case Western Reserve University's Mandel School of Applied Social Sciences. [2]
Career
After working as an assistant law director, Stewart began a career in education. She lectured, taught, and worked as an assistant dean at the Cleveland-Marshall College of Law. She later joined the faculty of this school and taught classes on ethics and professional responsibility, criminal law, criminal procedure, and legal research, writing and advocacy. She has also worked as the Director of Student Services for Case Western Reserve University School of Law and has taught at the University of Toledo College of Law and Ursuline College. She has also taught music lessons.[2]
Legal career
Justice Stewart began her career as an assistant law director for the cities of Cleveland and East Cleveland. In addition to her educational career at various law schools, she has worked as an administrator for a health care management company and a civil defense litigator.[2]
2010 election
Stewart was re-elected after running unopposed. [3]
