Michael F. Griffith is a multi-bench judge for the County Family and Surrogate's courts of Wyoming County, New York. He has served in this position since 1992, following his election. He was re-elected in 2001 and 2011. He has also served as an Acting Justice of the New York Supreme Court 8th Judicial District since 2003.[1] His current term will expire in 2021.[2]
Education
Griffith received his B.S. degree from the University of Bridgeport in 1974 and his J.D. degree from the University of Toledo in 1976.[1]
Legal career
Griffith spent his pre-judicial career from 1977 to 1991 as a private practice lawyer. He also worked as an Assistant Public Defender for Wyoming County from 1977 to 1983 and as a Wyoming County District Attorney from 1984 to 1991. His judicial career began in 1992, when he became a multi-bench judge of Wyoming County. In 2003, he was appointed to the positions of Acting Supreme Court Justice and Supervising Judge of the 8th Judicial District Family Courts. He served as a Supervising Judge until 2007.[1]
