Education
Bagneris received two B.A. degrees from Yale University: one in American History and one in African-American History. He received his J.D. degree from Tulane Law School in 1975.[3]
Career
Bagneris began his career working as a law clerk for the firm of Fine & Waltzer while still in law school. Upon graduation, he became an associate at that firm. In 1979, he was promoted to partner and the firm was renamed Fine, Waltzer & Bagneris. The following year, he became Executive Counsel to New Orleans Mayor Ernest "Dutch" Morial. He returned to Waltzer & Bagneris in 1986, where he practiced law until his judicial election in 1993.[3]
