Michael G. Bagneris is a judge for the 41st Judicial District Civil Court (Division H) in Orleans Parish, Louisiana. He was first elected to this position on October 16, 1993, his current term expiring on December 31, 2014.[1][2]

Education

Bagneris received two B.A. degrees from Yale University: one in American History and one in African-American History. He received his J.D. degree from Tulane Law School in 1975.[3]

Career

Bagneris began his career working as a law clerk for the firm of Fine & Waltzer while still in law school. Upon graduation, he became an associate at that firm. In 1979, he was promoted to partner and the firm was renamed Fine, Waltzer & Bagneris. The following year, he became Executive Counsel to New Orleans Mayor Ernest "Dutch" Morial. He returned to Waltzer & Bagneris in 1986, where he practiced law until his judicial election in 1993.[3]
