Michael E. Vigil is a judge on the New Mexico Court of Appeals. He was appointed to this position by Governor Richardson and was sworn in on March 7, 2003.[1] He was elected in 2004.[2] His current term ends on January 1, 2019.[3]
Biography
Judge Vigil graduated from the College of Santa Fe in 1973 with a political science major and a history minor. He went on to receive his law degree from the Georgetown University Law Center in 1976.[1]
Legal career
Judge Vigil began his legal career in 1976 as a staff attorney for the New Mexico Court of Appeals. He became a private practice lawyer in 1979, with an emphasis on personal injury and medical malpractice. He was an active lawyer until his appointment to the Court of Appeals.[1]
2012 election
Vigil was retained with 73.48% of the vote in the general election on November 6th.[4][5][6]
