Michelle M. Keller is an associate justice of the Kentucky Supreme Court. She was appointed to this position on April 3, 2013, by Governor Steve Beshear to fill a vacancy created by the retirement of Wil Schroder. As the fifth woman ever to serve on the court, she represents Kentucky's Sixth Supreme Court District. She must face election to a full term in 2014 if she wishes to remain on the bench.
Keller graduated from Northern Kentucky University in 1985 with a degree in psychology while working as a nurse. She received her J.D. degree from Northern Kentucky University Salmon P. Chase College of Law in 1990.
Keller formerly served on the Kentucky Court of Appeals, 6th Appellate District. She was elected to this position in November of 2006 and served until her Supreme Court appointment. She has also served as a Court of Appeals representative on the Kentucky Judicial Conduct Commission.
Judge Keller practiced law with the firm Arnzen, Wentz, Molloy, Laber and Storm PSC before her election to the Court of Appeals. She has also worked as an assistant county prosecutor. Her litigation focuses are on family law, personal injury and medical negligence defense. She is currently and adjunct professor at Xavier University.
