Michigan Supreme Court rules on Rosa Parks' estate
Michigan: The Michigan Supreme Court has given judge Freddie G. Burton, Jr. twenty-eight days reinstate Elaine Steele and Adam Shakoor as executors of Rosa Parks' estate. These individuals were named by the late Parks as heads of her estate. Once Parks passed away, her family challenged the executors and were successful in Judge Burton's Wayne County Probate Court. The judge then appointed two lawyers, John Chase Jr. and Melvin Jefferson Jr., to serve instead.
Six months ago, an attorney for Steele contested the action of Judge Burton and asked the high court to remove the probate judge from the case. In its ruling, the Supreme Court did not remove Burton from the proceedings, but it did order him to adhere to Ms. Parks' wishes.
