Michigan: The 52nd Judicial District Court in Michigan is modernizing. On Oct. 3, the last court within the district, 52-1, began the switch to a web-based case management system. The court is located in the City of Novi and is the latest to adopt the new system, which is being provided by the State Court Administrative Office's Judicial Information Systems. Moving case management online allows the public to search for information on charges, trial dates and sentencing information. It is also expected to help court staff file reports and to provide a more automated system that will keep records up-to-date. The conversion process will take some time and delays are expected amidst the changes, but hopes are high. Joyce A. Renfrow, the court administrator, explained, “It will probably alleviate a lot of phone calls because of the information that will be available (online)." Other courts in the 52nd District began converting to the Internet-based system earlier this year and the same system is being adopted across the state.
