Miranda Du is a federal judge for the United States District Court for the District of Nevada. Sh was nominated to the court by President Barack Obama. Prior to becoming a judge, Du was a partner at the firm McDonald Carano Wilson LLP, in Reno, Nevada.[1]

Du received a B.A. from U. of California, Davis in 1991 and a juris doctorate degree from University of California, Berkeley School of Law (Boalt Hall) in 1994.[1]

On August 2, 2011, Du was nominated to the federal bench by President Barack Obama to the seat vacated by Roger Hunt.[2][3] Of the appointment, Obama said, “Miranda Du will be an esteemed addition to the Federal bench for the people of Nevada. I am grateful for her dedication to public service.”[1]

Du was rated Substantial Majority Qualified, Minority Not Qualified by the American Bar Association. She had a hearing before the Senate Judiciary committee on October 4, 2011 and you can find her Committee Questionnaire available here and her Questions for the Record available here.[4]

On Wednesday, March 28, 2012, Du was confirmed by the United States Senate to the United States District Court for the District of Nevada with a vote of 59-39.[5]
