NY Chief Judge to give official "State of the Courts" address

Albany, New York: On February 14, 2012 Chief Judge Jonathan Lippman of the State of New York Court of Appeals will deliver his official State of the Courts address to the press and members of the judiciary. Historically, the address has been a popular time for announcements concerning the judiciary. Last year, Lippman took the opportunity to announce a ban on judges hearing cases that involved major campaign contributors. This year Lippman is expected to address the budget cuts the court has been facing over hte past year, despite the 12% increase in case loads.[1] To follow our coverage of the New York State budget's impact on the courts, see:
