Nancy Moate Ley is a judge of the Sixth Judicial Circuit Court in Florida. She was appointed to this position by then-Governor Lawton Chiles in 1998. Her current term expires on January 7, 2013, but she is eligible to run for re-election on November 6, 2012.[1][2][3][4]

Biography and Education

Ley was born on July 24, 1952 in Chicago, IL. She received her law degree from the University of Notre Dame. In 1977, she was admitted to the Indiana Bar and, the following year, was admitted to the Florida Bar.[1][2]

Legal career

Ley began her career as an Assistant Public Defender. After nine years in that position (the last five in the capital crimes division), she entered the private practice of law. She specialized in family law until she was appointed to the Circuit Court in 1998.[2][6]
