The Eighth Judicial District Court of Clark County is the largest general jurisdiction court in Nevada. This court serves all municipalities and outlying communities of Clark County. The 37 District Court Judges of the Eighth Judicial District serve more than 2.1 million citizens.

Overview

The court serves as a trial court and is part of the judicial branch of state government as set forth by the Nevada Constitution. The court is a forum for lawful dispute resolution insuring a balance of branch powers and constitutional protections.

The Civil and Criminal Divisions of the court are located in the Regional Justice Center, 200 Lewis Avenue, in Downtown Las Vegas. The Family and Juvenile Divisions are located in the Family Courts and Services Center, 601 N. Pecos, Las Vegas.

Judges

37 judges of the Eighth Judicial District Court serve the citizens of Clark County, Nevada, nearly 70 percent of Nevada's population. Judges are elected and serve on the bench for six year terms. The Civil/Criminal Divisions are comprised of twenty-four judicial departments, while the Family/Juvenile Divisions make up thirteen judicial departments. In addition, five Senior Judges are assigned to the Eighth Judicial District Court.
