New Mexico: The order has come from the New Mexico Supreme Court: Robert Robles must step down from the court on June 1. Robles was elected to the appellate court in November of 2010. Three months later, he was arrested for driving while intoxicated and soon after, was suspended without pay by the Supreme Court. This past Monday, the court unanimously agreed that Robles must resign and can never seek a judicial post again in the state. [1]
Robles has served on the New Mexico Court of Appeals since 2008, when he was appointed to fill a vacancy on the court. He narrowly won election to the seat in November 2010, receiving 50.8% of the vote. [2]
