Northampton County is located within the North Carolina District Court judicial district 6B and the North Carolina Superior Court First Division.

The United States District Court for the Eastern District of North Carolina has jurisdiction in Northampton County. Appeals from the Eastern District go to the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit.
