Orie Leon Phillips (1885-1974) was a federal judge on the United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit and the United States District Court for the District of New Mexico[1].
Tenth Circuit
Phillips was nominated to the Tenth Circuit by President Herbert Hoover on April 18, 1929 to a new seat created by 45 Stat. 1346. He was confirmed by the Senate on April 29th, and received commission that same day. From 1948 to 1956, he was the chief judge. On January 1, 1956, he assumed senior status. He served on this court until his death on November 14, 1974[1].
District of New Mexico
Phillips was nominated to the District of New Mexico by President Warren Harding on February 28, 1923 to a new seat created by 42 Stat. 837. He was confirmed by the Senate on March 3, 1923, and received commission that same day. He served on this court until April 29, 1929, when he was appointed to a different position[1].
