TOCnestright}} Patricia Breckenridge is an associate justice of the Missouri Supreme Court. She was appointed to this position in 2007 by then-governor Matt Blunt, from a list of three candidates submitted to him by the Appellate Judicial Commission to serve on the Missouri Supreme Court.[1]

Breckenridge was subsequently retained in her post on the court in the November 4, 2008 general election in Missouri, winning 73% of the retention vote.[2] Her current term ends in 2016.

Legal background

Judge Breckenridge received her Bachelor of Science from the University of Missouri-Columbia and went on to get her Juris Doctor from the University of Missouri-Columbia. She was later appointed by Governor Kit Bond in 1982 as an associate circuit judge in Vernon County in the 28th Judicial Circuit; elected to that position in 1982, 1986 and 1990. She was then appointed in December 1990 to the Court of Appeals by John Ashcroft and retained in office at the general elections in November 1992 and 2004.[3]

2007 investiture

Breckenridge takes her oath as the new Supreme Court Judge of Missouri. Colleges, friends and family gather to appreciate her services. "I heard many people talk about her excellence as a jurist, long experience on the bench, attention to detail, and ability to put aside personal views and rule based on the law and the facts before her," Stith said.[4]
