Patrick L. Woodward is a judge on the Maryland Court of Special Appeals, the intermediate appellate court for the state of Maryland. He took office on May 26, 2005 and he represents the 7th Appellate Circuit.[1]

Biography

Judge Woodward was born on November 28, 1948 in Bethesda, Maryland. He received his A.B. degree from Princeton University in 1970 and his J.D. degree from Vanderbilt University School of Law in 1973.[1]

Legal career

Judge Woodward began his legal career in 1973 as a law clerk to Chief Judge Edward S. Northrop of the U.S. District Court for the District of Maryland. In 1974, he worked as an associate in the Law Offices of Rourke J. Sheehan. He became a partner in the law firm Sheehan & Woodward in 1978. In 1980, he moved to the firm Jackson, Campbell & Parkinson, which later became Jackson & Campbell, P.C. He worked as the director of this firm before becoming a sole practitioner in 1987. From March 8, 1991 to May 6, 1998, he was an Associate Judge on the District Court of Maryland, District 6. After this, he was an Associate Judge on the Montgomery County Circuit Court until his term on the Court of Appeals began.[1]
