Patty Shwartz is a federal magistrate judge for the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey. She was appointed to this position on March 10, 2003[1][2] and her current term will end in 2011.
Education
Judge Shwartz earned her B.A. degree from Rutgers College in 1983 and her J.D. from the University of Pennsylvania Law School in 1986.[1][2]
Career
Judge Shwartz began her career as a private practice lawyer in Philadelphia. A short time later, she became a clerk for U.S. District Judge Harold Ackerman in New Jersey. She then joined the United States Attorney’s Office. She became the Chief of the Criminal Division of this office and held this position until she became a magistrate judge in 2003.[1][2]
