Paul Turner is the Presiding Justice on the Second District, Division Five of the California Courts of Appeal. He was appointed by then-Governor Deukmejian and took his oath of office on August 28, 1990. He was retained by voters on the November 5, 2002 and the January 6, 2003 elections.[1] His current term expires on January 5, 2015.[2]
Biography
Paul Turner graduated with a B.A. in political science from California State College at Long Beach in 1969. He then graduated from the school of law at UCLA in 1972. He also served in the Army National Guard. He is married with two children.[3][4]
Legal career
From 1973 to 1983, he worked as a private practice lawyer in Encino and Los Angeles. He was then appointed to the Los Angeles Municipal Court. In 1985, he was appointed to the Superior Court. He has also served on the Intergovernmental Advisory Council on Alcohol, Drugs, and Traffic Safety and, for a year, he worked as a law and motion civil judge.[3][4]
