Paula Nakayama

Paula A. Nakayama was appointed to the Hawaii Supreme Court on April 22, 1993 by Governor John D. Waihee III, a Democrat. She is one of five judge serving on the Supreme Court and her current term ends on April 21, 2013.[1]

Biography

Justice Nakayama received her undergraduate degree from the University of California at Davis and her law degree from Hastings College of Law.[1]

Legal career

Justice Nakayama was admitted to the Hawai`i Bar in 1979 and she began serving as a deputy prosecuting attorney for the City & County of Honolulu. She later worked as a partner with the firm Shim, Tam and Kirimitsu until 1992, when she was appointed as a judge of the Circuit Court of the First Circuit.[1]
