The Pennsylvania elections of 2010 consist of a Primary Election on May 18, 2010 and a General Election on November 2, 2010. Pennsylvania is one of two states that hold its judicial elections in odd numbered years, so the next judicial election in Pennsylvania is in 2011.[1]
Overview
There are seven justices on the Pennsylvania Supreme Court, each being elected to ten year terms. The Pennsylvania Supreme Court judicial candidates have the chance to run on party tickets. The Chief Justice is automatically the justice who has the longest commitment of service on the Court. Once they reach the age of seventy, justices must step down form their position on the Pennsylvania Supreme Court. However, a justice may continue to serve until the mandatory age of seventy-eight as a senior justice on the panels of the Commonwealth's lower appellate courts.
