Peter Dorsey is an Article III federal judge for the United States District Court for the District of Connecticut. He joined the court in 1983 after being nominated by President Ronald Reagan.

Early life and education

Born in New London, Connecticut, Dorsey graduated from Yale University with his Bachelor's Degree in 1953. Dorsey served in the United States Navy Reserves from 1953 to 1956. Dorsey graduated from Harvard Law School with his Bachelor of Laws, LL.B degree in 1959. [1]

Professional career

Dorsey was a private practice attorney in Connecticut from 1959 to 1974 and again from 1977 to 1983. Dorsey was nominated by President Gerald R. Ford to serve as the U.S. Attorney for the District of Connecticut from 1974 to 1977. [1]

Judicial career

Dorsey was nominated to the United States District Court for the District of Connecticut by President Ronald Reagan on June 7, 1983 to a seat vacated by Emmet Clarie. Dorsey was confirmed by the U.S. Senate on July 18, 1983 on a Senate vote and received commission on July 19, 1983.[1] Dorsey was succeeded in this position by Stefan Underhill.
